confused...

posting has me getting andrus, but the spreadsheet has Kyle and me getting Andrus, but neither of us getting docked draft dollars for andrus in the overall draft dollar standings. Kyle should get him for 101 and his dd total should be 121.

this aint right steve... I bid the rest of what I have on andrus and I should have more.... or do circular bids kill me again?

My roster is FULL? Where the hell does anyone say anything about us having to drop middraft? I thought the rules said that we have to do it after the draft again.....

I hate this system... lay the rules out early..... I have at least 5 guys I'd be willing to drop to make room...

From the original draft rules post:

"Euring the draft, you may not exceed 27 players total on your roster. For everyone, this means that if you draft more than 3 players, you must immediately drop players to maintain your roster at no more than 27 players."

I was never contacted that I had passed 27 and should have gotten andrus with and told that before I do anything I needed to drop someone! Adding to this, I would like to drop Ibanez.... I was expecting him to be gone already anyway....

Kyle, I think the reason Steve put him on my team instead of yours is because you have to submit your bid with the players you would drop incase you get the players you bid for. So, at any one time you cannot have 28 players. Since you didn't include Ibanez in the e-mail, Steve can only assume that you didnt want to drop someone for your 3rd priority guy if you got your top 2 priority guys.

But come on Kyle...nobody told you how many people are on your team? You should know how many people are on your team. You should know the limit is 27, and you should know when you bid for like 5 people that you are going over the limit of players allowed if you get these guys. You should also be specific in your bid that you would rather have your fifth priority guy instead of a player already on your team. In Yahoo, if you submit a bid for a waiver player, you have to also submit who you will drop. I dont understand how you dont know any of these rules.

I never expected to have gone over. If I would have realized it I would have.... all I have to say is it's no wonder why the hell everyone that isn't in the top 5 (the guys who look at this crud every day and know the rules like the back of their hands) wants to give up their $$ so they don't have to be a part of it. This will be my last year if stuff doesn't change. I like you guys too much to feel like I'm being cheated by everyone in a stupid game like this.... Yes I was aware I was going to pass 27 players... but I had no idea I had to send an email listing players to drop immediately... I figured it would be retro active since we've ALWAYS been able to claim who we were dropping AFTER we won someone... not having to do it before....

there is no point in arguing Kyle. we all like you too and dont want you to quit.

dont get pissed about andrus though...bid for alcides escobar, or Jason Donald...wait for one of the Beckhams..any one of these dudes could explode like hanley did, or flop like the majority of rookies and prospects do. some of it is just luck. (btw all of these guys i named are in the article ss primer on the keepers league homepage under the top 5 prospects section...no research needed to find these dudes)

There is a need to point out that I'm getting screwed by stupid petty little stuff... I've been in the bottom 3 for ALL 3 years and haven't gotten ANYTHING in the offseason.. why should I be needing to look for people WAAAAAAAAAAY down the prospects list and doing research to find people lance probably doesn't even know of....

I agree that you should get stuff in the offseason....this is why i proposed before this year, and I will propose it again next year, that the top 7 or 8 teams do not get to participate in offseason drafting. This way, all prospects available in the offseason go to the bottom 1/2. Seems fair to me.

You did get CC and Webb though, so you wont be in the bottom 3 this year.

I wouldn't have been bottom 3 anyway.... Also, my opinion is still line order draft. People can trade picks if they want, but if 3rd to last trades the person who took 1st for all their stuff cause they don't want to participate, then top person still wont pass the people who took the last two spots. Also I think reordering the 1-5 waivers to the last 5 from the year before (then keeping 6-X in order as they were) would help as well. Since reverse order draft takes away from the potential of the people with all the $$, this would help counter that for those people.

First, I'd like to congratulate Kyle on correctly identifying the best two players in this round (and the first round, for that matter). You easily did the most to improve your team in this round.

Unless we start using John Dewan's Revised Zone Rating in the keeper league, I don't think Andrus will have much value.

Second, I don't think we should be blaming Steve for errors in roster management committed by owners. It's not Steve's responsibility to notify everyone of every possible rules infraction they may be on the verge of committing. Keeper League Commish isn't his full-time gig.

It seems like the emotion that you (apparently) invest in a roster move should at least be somewhat proportional to the due diligence performed to ensure that you're compliant with the roster rules.

And let's just consider this for a moment: you're saying the system isn't working because last year's worst-performing team accumulated two of the best three power prospects in the draft in Anderson and LaPorta (Brett Wallace being the third)?... and you still have enough dollars to get whomever you want in the third round. You could still nominate Trevor Cahill or Neftali Feliz and have no one be able to compete with you.

I too think we should change to a straight draft next year, and I will be a strong advocate for that change. But I'm not going to endlessly bitch about the current rules in the interim. I'll learn the rules and try to improve my team within those constraints.

I don't know where this furious sense of entitlement has come all of the sudden after three years of being an agreeable owner and trade partner. One would be forgiven for thinking your team had been taken over by MoveOn.org.
