I'm done arguing, time to fix this...

I dont think anyone here denies that there was a big issue. Forget it, let's just make sure it doesn't happen ever again.

Here are my proposals for future offseasons:

1) Line order draft. Aka 1, 2, 3, 4....14, 1, 2, 3.... etc.

Here's why: Last place deserves the first pick and not to be bought out by stienbrenner. Likewise, first place deserves last pick. You can always trade a pick so first place can trade up, but it makes it so the top 4 teams cant just trade their money around and have one of them get 1st pick again (not saying that's what happened, but it could). Prospects/offseason is supposed to help the last place teams not the first place teams. Also, half the people seem to not care enough about the $$ and would rather ignore the system or just give away their $$ than try to buy anyone. It's the 1 person who collects the highest $$ getting anyone of value then everyone else just grabs people they redrop or could have got off free agents anyway.

2) Trades last X number of days before they go through. Where X= same number of days it takes our Yahoo ones to go through. Trades also should be confirmed before they start this time.

Here's why: No time to refute trades and no time to react to trades that happened.  On yahoo, everyone sees what you are doing for however many days and can respond to it, offseason it's all about secrecy and going behind people's backs which isn't why we're here....

3) Boost the waiver spot of each of the last 3 place teams by 1 (if possible) at the start of the next season.

Here is why: Gives the lower teams again that extra push to move forward over the course of the season and get the prospects a little sooner. We've had the same 3-5 people in the top 3 for 3+ years now and it's just getting old. I was in the bottom 3 the last 2 years and didn't get anyone from it. Not a soul. Used my waiver twice for scherzer and snyder (I was @ #5 when I got scherzer so I really shouldn't have) but I'm w/o a prospect this offseason AND #11 in waivers.... how am I really expected to change from last year's last place?

I agree with a lot of this. I think we should do a reverse-order draft next year and in all future years. Not only is it a lot more straightforward, but we won't be tackling issues on an ad hoc basis every year (this sentence was partially written by Mark Sanford). And everyone will know well in advance what the draft process will be.

I give pause at the waiver idea though. It might create a lot of bizarre incentives toward the end of the regular season.

That said, I wasn't trying to do anything personal or sneaky. I was just trying to improve my team, and someone presented me with an offer that I believed would accomplish that.

I had coveted Wieters for a while, but I gave up on him following the Raul Ibanez ace-in-the-hole arrangement. I wasn't about to get into a nuclear arms race over a prospect. But then I got an offer this past week that would allow me to acquire him at little expense. I think anyone else would have done the same.

I would hope that we could use the example of Zach's and my relationship with one another when it comes to fantasy baseball. We'll ruthlessly defend our own interests on the virtual field, but are best of friends outside the e-lines.

Best of luck, everyone, in the second round.

just to add more insult to injury... you know shit's broken when the last place 2 teams didn't get anything from the 1st round of an offseason draft......

I'd do anything to get morrow and scherzer back now that I loose a year of competitiveness, but I'm not gonna take em

Yea I knew you were getting an offer cause I was getting "$700 for Vmart" bull.... so I knew at that point I was getting worked by the system (to stop pointing fingers around)

I didn't point fingers.

So much for being done arguing...

My turn -

response to "I'd do anything to get morrow and scherzer back now that I loose a year of competitiveness, but I'm not gonna take em" (comment made above)...You arent going to take them? Thats good, because i'm not offering them back. I argue that losing Wieters does not equate to not being competitive this year. I offered you VMart for cheaper than you would have paid for Wieters. VMart will put up better numbers than Wieters this year. You actually gain competitiveness with a VMart trade, but you do lose that competitiveness when VMart declines in a few years or so(but you just traded scherzer and morrow to me, so it seems like you were trying to compete now, not later).

response to Kyle saying "Yea I knew you were getting an offer cause I was getting "$700 for Vmart" bull.... so I knew at that point I was getting worked by the system "(comment made above) ...Then why didnt you trade for more dollars? You cant say you were screwed if you knew it was going to happen and you didnt try to trade to make sure you had connors money + my money + 1. And dont say the elliot trade is why you didnt trade for more money, you already posted that you only got 100 dollars for ibanez.

response to Kyle saying "...I never said anything about taking your money... look at the $$ math from the other post...."(comment from 'Case Closed' post) ...This is true. In order for you to have more money than Connor, you would have needed 143 dollars from elliot if my math is right, which would not involve taking any of my money. However, you posted yourself on Tuesday that you only get 100 dollars. You didnt have enough money to get Wieters dude.

response to Kyle saying "elliot gets Ibanez for nothing cause I'll be the only one holding up my end of the bargain if that's what this comes down to."(Comment from 'untitled' post)...This isnt true. You are owed 100 dollars as you stated in your Tuesday post. Elliot confirmed that with me, and I will stand up for you to make sure you get that money.

response to Kyle saying "I want to argue that the trade between zach and connor was one sided."...If you do, then please start making your case. I dont think you have many supporters though.

response to "plus it's not like it was a "bad" trade considering some of the other one's zach's been pulling...."...So you are saying here that I made bad trades for myself (which I assume is the CC and Webb trade). You benefitted from this, so why are you arguing? Also, 10 hrs later you said you would do anything to get scherzer and morrow back. So, which is it? I am sorry for "pulling" a trade in which I negotiated with you for months and you accepted it.

response to the posted ideas -

1)Line order - I would be fine with this. I would also add that if the goal of the league is to make the lower 1/2 better, only allow the lower half to be involved the line draft.

2)I kind of agree. There is plenty of time to refute. For example, if you should have Wieters, all Steve has to do is update the draft dollar sheets accordingly. Not that hard. However, there is nothing to refute in mine and Connor's trade.

3) I dont agree with this. If you want to redo waivers, one solution would be to reorder all waivers with last getting the first waiver and so on.

3a) Without a prospect? You picked up Sabathia and Webb this offseason. You have better than prospects, you have CY Young candidates. You have a very good pitching staff. If you would do a trade (say for VMart to start with, you already have rollins and kinsler), you could start shaping up your offense and you could compete.

Don't act like getting a prospect who is in AAA to start the season makes or breaks this year for you.

last two comments Kyle made that i responded to were in the original untitled post...

and i second Connor's "I would hope that we could use the example of Zach's and my relationship with one another when it comes to fantasy baseball. We'll ruthlessly defend our own interests on the virtual field, but are best of friends outside the e-lines."

I get very mad at Connor on here, as I am sure he gets mad with me. It is fun to argue, and refute trades, and attempt to make 3 way trades with mysterious handshakes that I will defend to the death actually happened. In the end though, its just a game and I am glad Connor and I realize that. I hope you do too Kyle, because all my arguing in no way means i am pissed at you. Just having fun.

Kyle,

It seems like Yahoo put in tons of great prospects this season - go to www.scoutingbook.com and get some of the top prospects, you have enough money to get most of them.

You can also look into getting closers and flipping them for players with more long term value.

There are tons of ways to build your team, you just need to stick to a plan and run with it.

Finally figured out a fix to the waiver order thing... make the bottom five numbers 1-5 (obvious reverse order) and leave everyone else in order at the start of next year. (I'd take 3 as well).

But we need to agree that this is how we are going to do it for next year before the season starts or I already have plans in store for working the system for next year...
